What the heck is an NFT? And What Kind Does PulseTV Sell?

What is an NFT?

You may or may not yet know what NFTs are yet. NFT is a fancy way of colloquially saying one-of-a-kind digital art. The interesting thing about these digital art collections is that ownership can be proven when you use Ethereum (ETH) crypto currency because the transaction is recorded on the Ethereum public blockchain.

Let me break this down for newbies. The blockchain is a public database that can be accessed to verify transactions anywhere in the world. When you buy a piece of digital art and that purchase is automatically recorded in the database, your ownership can be proven.

NFTs are Modern Day Trading Cards

Imagine you collected and traded physical baseball cards. You may be storing them in a shoe box and the most valuable, (maybe Willie Mays’ rookie card) stored in a safe. It can be lost, stolen, degraded over time. A digital card can be shared, used as a screen saver and sold person to person or on one of dozens of NFT auction sites.

NFTs can be unique pieces of art or 1 of 50 (or some designated amount).

NFTs Created by PulseTV

Now, why has PulseTV decided to test selling digital art?  We created these digital collections in-house for some topics of personal interest. As of this blog post, we have two collections listed on the website, OpenSea:

The Military Generals Collection featuring:

  1. George S. Patton
  2. Dwight D. Eisenhower
  3. Douglas MacArthur

Historical photos of United States Military Generals with inspiring quotes from each general. Collectible memorabilia commemorating US Armed forces in World War 1, World War 2, Vietnam War, Korean War and more. Learn about the Army, Navy, Air Force and the Marines.

You can own each unique NFT for a full resolution image, and triple authenticated trading card. Lovingly and respectfully crafted; if you collect military videos or art, this is for you.

bannerwhistleblowernft

The Whistleblowers Collection  featuring:

  1. Edward Snowden
  2. Julian Assange
  3. Daniel Ellsberg

This memorable collection of NFTs represents iconic images of the greatest whistleblowers in world history. These people changed the course of history and now you can own a piece of history with these unique pieces. Each NFT has been lovingly created and is unique. Hopefully we have captured the courage and inspiration of the men and women who made heroic sacrifices.

25% of all NFT revenues generated from the Whistleblowers Collection will be donated to the official Wikileaks and Julian Assange Defense Fund. This includes ANY NFT revenue from the Whistleblowers Collection.

PulseTV also created an NFT Collector’s Department on our website.

Introducing Our Newest Department: Staying at Home

stayhome
Stay Safe, Healthy and Save Lives #stayhome

At this unprecedented time, experts offer up the most important advice: stay at home. Please! The less the general public congregates – the better. To flatten the curve of the Coronavirus (Covid-19), we need to come together and stay home as much as possible.

Our newest Staying at Home department has a few items to pass the time, stay healthy, and safe.

Many of us without a daily commute now find there’s so much more free time! And it’s not like we can all go bowling, fancy restaurants or even the local watering hole. It’s best to keep busy, so here are a few things we can do:

Home Improvement

Hey you’re stuck at home – might as well make it look good! I’m sure there’s plenty of projects you’ve put off for years, or were just waiting for spring months to arrive. Deep cleaning your house can be very therapeutic as well as make a healthier environment for everyone.

We’ve been selling this Black+Decker Grimebuster for a while but it’s always been a customer favorite. Check out the reviews and see for yourself! If you’ve been meaning to deep clean the bathroom (tile, sink, shower door, etc.) this is gonna save you a TON of elbow grease!

Don’t forget the kids…

Those poor kids out of school can’t have any playdates, go to the park, or even Chuck E Cheese’s… here’s a few things to keep them occupied.

How to Make Homemade Sanitizer Wipes

How to Make Sanitizer Wipes
Visit our website for the how-to video!

A handy trick we’ve just learned is to take some hand sanitizer and create your very own DIY sanitizer wipes in just a few short steps! With Coronavirus (Covid-19) and quarantine/stay-at-home measures in place, it’s essential to sanitize your workspaces and homes.

We have been getting MANY calls from customers asking if our Purifize Hand Cleaner can disinfect surfaces. The short answer is absolutely YES. Because Purifize is 70% alcohol, it exceeds CDC minimum standards. You can certainly pour a bunch in your hands and then wipe it on whatever you want to sanitize – but that’s kinda weird isn’t it?

Here’s how to make your own wipes (Watch the How-To Video on Our Site):

  1. Cut paper towel roll to size for storing in a resealable container. Maybe you have an old container for sanitizer wipes that ran out – or you could use a big Ziplock bag.
  2. Put inside the container and pour enough Purifize to saturate the paper towels inside. Purifize isn’t as thick as some other goopy hand sanitizers like Purell, so it works a little easier to pour in.
  3. Keep sealed up until ready to use.

Use these wipes for those infrequent trips to the store (wipe down cart handles) gas pump handles, and doorknobs. Keep some in the glovebox or on your desk to remind you to keep clean!

Used in combination with frequent hand-washing with good quality soap, proper filtration masks, and social distancing – you’ll stay as safe as you can be.

Now we want to point out that due to its high alcohol content, it can be used safely on glass and plastic surfaces. We do not recommend it be used on wood as the alcohol disinfectant might strip the wood surface and polish (you can always test a small portion first and see how it goes from there).

Thanks again to our customers for such positive feedback in these trying times right now. We’re happy to be able to supply not only our customers, but first responders, hospitals, and other friends and families that need it.

We’re all in this together, – so hang in there!

Bringing Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones to Life

sonusancheadphones
The finished Product and packaging.

To bring something special to our customers last Christmas, PulseTV partnered up with a top electronics manufacturer for something we’ve never carried before: noise-cancelling headphones.

Here are the SONUS Active Noise Cancelling Headphones with Carrying Case. You will not find this model anywhere else – it’s one of the PulseTV exclusive items on our site and we worked closely with the manufacturer.

PulseTV and The Electronics Department

PulseTV is no stranger to electronics: it’s been our number one standalone department for years now with almost 100 products at any one time. We’ve got speakers, power outlets and other accessories – but headphones and earbuds are probably our favorite.

From old-school wired headphones, to Bluetooth® Wireless devices, and the latest trend of “true wireless earbuds” we’ve been here for the complete evolution of personal audio. The only thing missing was active noise cancelling technology!

How does Noise Cancelling Technology Work?

It’s hard to explain, but what happens is that your headphones will dynamically produce a sound wave that is the mirror image of undesired noise, thereby “cancelling” it out. I don’t know if it truly cancels it, but for it’s best for reducing continuous, low-frequency noise: think of the low droning sound in an airplane cabin.

The technology has been used in aviation since the late 80’s, but the company Bose® is well-known for bringing the first set of consumer-based headphones in 2000, called Quiet Comfort, which they still iterate to this day.

But here’s the problem: they’ve always been so expensive! I won a pair of Bose QC25 in a contest, but they cost $300 at the time! I would never have paid that much on my own…

Selecting the Perfect Model

So that brings us to our partners, makers of popular Volkano branded headsets. We looked at literally dozens of models and configurations that were too expensive or didn’t sound quite right. Some were too heavy, and others felt way too flimsy.

We put the factory-made samples through various office tests until we were happy to select one for our customers! We chose to include a 3.5mm cord, and a very nice hardshell carry case – since we all know how essential those are for traveling on planes! We even collaborated on the packaging:

sonuspackaging
This is the first iteration of the packaging for the Sonus headphones. We suggested a few changes here and there, but were overall very happy!

Sonus Active Noise Cancelling Headphones Features

The Sonus headphones are an absolute bargain when compared to those $300+ sets and has all the same features as well as excellent sound quality.

  • You get Bluetooth wireless capabilities with the latest 5.0 version. What is Bluetooth v5.0? It’s more battery-efficient and gives a more reliable connection while the phone is in your pocket or far away.
  • The headset is foldable and goes completely flat for use in the included case or bends to fit in even smaller spaces.
  • Built-in 3-button music controls let you pause/skip tracks and control the volume. Haven’t you noticed this is starting to go away in favor of a single button?
  • And you can plug these into your phone directly into your headphone jack with the included cord. Why would you ever want to do that? Well the built-in rechargeable battery lasts up to 5 1/2 hours, but if you’re on a flight for longer than that, you can always plug in for uninterrupted music listening.

There’s many more features listed on our site, and you can always watch our video to got through most. There’s almost too much to talk about! But here’s a 5-star customer review that says it best:

sonusreview
A happy customer leaving a 5-star review. Thanks Gregory!

I know many employees have gifted these to friends and loved ones so we now have an extra $10 off to anyone who hasn’t bought a pair yet! That’s right: our price is now just $39.91 (you cannot beat that!) Remember, you can only buy these at PulseTV – so jump on these while we still have stock!

As Seen on TV Copper Corner Header Image

You can’t turn on the television without seeing an As Seen on TV commercial for some kind of copper thing! There are pans, knives, even socks utilizing this latest trend. We love em all!

So much so, that we created a special new department with all our best-selling copper-related products: we call it the Copper Corner!

Copper cookware pans are the latest in ceramic non-stick technology. If you want to start small, we have a traditional 9.5in pan, all the way up to our deluxe 4pc square copper pan set with deep fry basket.

We carry a 4pc set: you get the pan, the lid, steamer tray AND an awesome fry basket.

You can bake, fry, roast, steam, saute or broil with just one pan! Go straight from the stove and into the oven. We can barely keep these in stock – and the positive square copper pan reviews are flooding in:

Arrived when expected. Be sure you follow directions before using the first time. Works exactly as described! I cooked eggs and they slid right out of the pan; no sticking, no broken yolks – perfect! I also made melted parmesan crisps and they also slid right out of the pan! I love this pan! – Mary, MN

PulseTV Buyers Team at the International Home + Housewares Show 2017

There were a TON of awesome products we saw at the International Home and Housewares show. It’s one of our favorite shows to go to – and it doesn’t hurt that it’s practically hosted in our backyard – McCormick Place in Chicago! So we wouldn’t miss one of these for the world.

Besides watching some cooking demos from our favorite chefs, sampling delicious snacks and smoothies, we actually got some real work done too! We met with some awesome new vendors, some Shark Tank successful companies, and current vendors/friends.

Some of the team was also in Las Vegas for a trade show at the SAME time. It stinks, but we split our buyers up to cover more ground and make sure we don’t miss great deals. More on the other show in another post :)

housewarescollage

It was an exciting trade show to be at, and we found plenty of awesome new products. Took plenty of pictures, and we’ll start sharing some of our upcoming products on our Facebook Page. So make sure you like our page and are subscribed to get the latest info on your newsfeed as explained below!

Make sure you get all our updates on Facebook!

A Virtual Desk Tour of My Desk (Rachael’s!)

Khalil’s Battlestation post made me think about all the PulseTV commodities that I’ve purchased the past 4 years of being part of the Pulse Squad. I looked around my space and thought — what makes my area function for the many, many hours that I spend plugging away here at PTV? I started off here as a Customer Service Representative, then turned into an Operations Team Member. I’m still mostly a mom at heart, so my desk is caked with Pulse products and personal reminders of the little things that keep me going.

1. Modern Fitness Activity Tracker

This is another possible PulseTV product in the works of being researched and discussed. We’re currently selling a more inexpensive tracker — it’s cheaper since it lacks all the bells and whistles of this Modern Fitness model. I’m holding onto this sample since I volunteered to test and check out the app if we decide to pick it up.

2. Desktop Organizer

During my first week here at PTV I was [randomly] asked, “So when are you going to personalize your desk?” I snuck out that very day on my lunch break to Target and picked up this pretty pen holder. I filled it with the cliché pink and purple pens that you may expect to find on a woman’s desk, as well as other sporadically used desk supplies. Nothing special, but I look forward to having the same flowery pen holder 20 years from now on my desk as a reminder of how far I’ve come!

3. Fox Stuff

If you’ve known me for any time at all, you’ve probably heard that I love foxes. Secret Santa (Sharif!) gifted me my Fancy Fox last Christmas, and it makes me smile. My foxed-up Sip by S’well Stainless Steel tumbler keeps my water super cold.

4. Smitty’s Glasswax

Since I’m four-eyed and a sunglasses enthusiast, I use Smitty’s Glasswax on the regular. I pretty much consider this the PulseTV-community Smitty’s — my coworkers roll up to borrow my glass cleaner on a daily basis for their glasses or smart phone. A little bit goes along way, so this tube has lasted me about a year.

Did you know we actually assemble and pack these ourselves? It’s one of the few products we get shipped in bulk to our office — a big box of microfiber cloths, the tubes, and little baggies to put them in. You can watch customer service pack in our old video (before we got our cubicles redone!)

5. Glass Multimedia Laptop & Monitor Stand with Speaker

Khalil mentioned this Monitor Stand in his read and I have one too! I like it mainly because it looks clean, helps with posture, and holds the other things that don’t really have a distinct place on my desk. My USB fan is plugged right in as well as my House of Marley Earbuds. I also like that my keyboard fits right under it at the end of the day. Clutter is not welcome here!

6. Water Resistant 10,000 mAh Power Bank with Dual USB

You guys: this is the best power bank ever (IMO). Khalil actually recommended it before my New York trip in January! I knew I would be out and about taking pictures the entire time with limited access to a power outlet, so I asked the guy, which power bank won’t let me down? I got 3, that’s right, 3 charges with my iPhone 7 up to 100%. And there was juice to spare!

We sold a ton of different battery backups, but I think this one has the most power — 10,000mAh (whatever that means). It’s still sitting on my desk because I brought it back and charged it right back up, ready for me to throw in my purse the next time I need it.

7. Handsfree Earpiece with Mic

My daily responsibilities are geared towards daily operations now but I can’t forget my PulseTV roots — Customer Service. I cannot express how important a comfortable ear piece is when my primary job was to help customers 8 hours a day. I still help with CS overflow, but it also comes in handy during my long talks with our fulfillment center.

8. Family Pictures

Over time, the amount of desktop personal memorabilia has fluctuated but my current family photos are pretty simplistic these days. Sweet photos of my husband, daughters and puppers gives my eyes a break from my computer screen.

9. USB Retro Mini Fan by GeekTek

Our office is hot (understatement). I keep my house at a firm 68 degrees year round, so when it starts creeping above 70 degrees here at PTV HQ, the fan goes on. We sold these long ago — and it would not surprise me to find many of my team members with one on their desk for the very same reason I do!

10. Multi-Function 3-Way Mirror

This mirror is another PulseTV product that gets daily use. Actually, Ashley from customer service snatched it up before me. After I kept stealing hers, she kindly gifted one to me! Since then, coworkers all around the office keep borrowing it for touching up makeup — and getting spinach out of their teeth!

I like that my station is a mixture of personal touches as well neat finds by the PTV buying team. A lot of our customers tell us that they love the things we pick up; that they can’t find them anywhere else with our deals. Imagine working here surrounded by the influx of cool products we get in daily! Just when I pay off my personal balance, I rack it right back up again. This is just the stuff that I keep at my desk, but don’t ask my husband where I keep all the stuff I bought for my home.
